The Nueva Maravilla Story
May 03, 2018
Representing the Hands for Peacemaking Foundation, Mike Alger will share the story of how providing Aller stoves in the homes of the people of the rural village of Nueva Maravilla, Guatemala helps improve their overall quality of life. For centuries, the indigenous people of Guatemala have cooked on an open fire inside their huts, a practice that is hazardous to their health, contributes to deforestation and requires families to spend many hours gathering firewood. The stoves reduce the amount of wood needed for cooking, dramatically reduce that amount of smoke in the homes and removes the hazards associated with an open fire inside their homes. |
