Bring your $15 bottle of RED WINE to a meeting

We seem to have plenty of white wine so please bring RED if possible.  Bring your bottle of wine (valued at $20 or less) to one of our lunch meetings in the next three weeks. The wine will be served at our Oktoberfest next month. Be sure to put a small label or piece of tape with your name on the bottle so I can track who has brought a bottle.

Thanks!
Matt Buehler

Silent Auction Items are still needed!
It happens September 23rd
Ann Potts and Matt Buehler are running the Silent Auction this year.  Silent Auction items are the key to our fund raising success.  Check out the Silent Auction email sent previously.  It will lead you through an easy process to choose the auction item you want to give.  You can buy your item or solicit a donation.  Save the date and jump to help when asked.
Know Your Rotarian - Matt Thornton
Matt is the manager at the Summit Branch of US Bank. He is married to Amanda and they have two boys and a girl.  Matt has several generations of Rotarians in his family and decided that he wanted to follow their lead and get involved in Rotary too.  And of course he chose Reno South as his club!  Matt's little know fact is that he was adopted by his step father after his mother remarried.  But it was unusual as he was adopted at age 23!  Matt is obviously very proud of his family and Reno South thanks him for helping us know him better.
Speaker Mikalee Byerman
Mikalee was destined to write.  When her marriage ended she began writing a blog which really caught on. A reader that she had never had contact with, liked her writing so much that he recommended her for several writing jobs, which she got.  The last one was to write a book in two months: "100 Things do Do in Reno Before You Die"

She probably didn't know before the offer came to write it that this would be her first book.  And she said she will not write a sequel!  Her next book will probably expand on her blog work which involves a brick and a break up - you have to google her blog read the rest.  And if you want to check out her book click here "100 Things".  Thank you Mikalee for telling your great story.
Welcome Table
Travis "Steve" Jackson showed up needing some welcoming and Kyle Whaley, Megan Reese and Dr. Granata were there to do it.  It was good to see Steve and I hope he comes back soon.  If he does, it won't be nearly as expensive as it probably was today!

We need Welcome Table helpers:
9/21 and beyond:  Two needed

Good crowd today.

Pledge - Joe Brown

Thought - Ann Potts

Four Way Test - Bodie Monroe

Sgt at Arms - Jason Morris

Guests:

Don Richter - Don believes he is the last surviving founding member of Reno South.  It was great to see him.  He looks great and I hope he comes back to see us again soon.

Steve - of Suffolk England brought us the banner of his club and we sent him on his way with one of ours.  His north country accent (I believe it was North country anyway) was pretty thick, not like James Bond.  It was great to have a visitor from afar.

Fines:

$50 - Dave Behling - gave the value of a tank of gas while his e-car charged on the Atlantis tab.

$25 - Jonnie Pullman - survived a very hot Burning Man (and I am talking about temps, who knows what else went on :)

$10/10 - Melany Denny - anniversary and b'day.  Also returned from Burning Man but, unlike Jonnie, from her air conditioned quarters.
