Bring your $15 bottle of wine to a meeting

Please bring a bottle of wine (valued at $20 or less) to one of our lunch meetings in the next three weeks. The wine will be served at our Oktoberfest next month. Be sure to put a small label or piece of tape with your name on the bottle so I can track who has bought a bottle.

Thanks!
Matt Buehler
New Member Siri Nelson
Siri Nelson is CEO of Renown South Meadows hospital.  She is married and has four boys.  Two are out of the house and one goes to Pine and one to Galena.  Her step dad was a Rotarian and instilled the desire to follow his lead.  Siri chose Rotary because of its positive impact locally with projects like the Achievement Beyond Obstacles Program and internationally where Rotary often acts as a neutral party to facilitate dispute resolution.  Welcome Siri to Reno South, your third Rotary club, and your Rotary home in your new hometown.  We are happy that you chose us.
Exchange Student Mishiro
Holley Bromley reports that Mashiro is settling in very nicely and is delightful.  She has eaten Mexican tacos and marsh mellows.  She likes yellow hot rods and even got to meet a couple of cowboys.  Remember Mishiro if you have the opportunity to invite her to join your family on an American adventure.
Know Your Rotarian - Heidi Howe
Heidi is a retired law enforcement officer who served in the Sheriff's Dept for 26 years.  She is married to Bill who is a frequent attendee of RSR social events.  They met while in high school.  And of course her in-laws are John and Liz Howe.

She first joined Rotary to put some balance in her life which was being spent in frequent company of fellow police officers.  Fellow officers are great but an occasional break from work and the police mission was welcome.  She revealed that she once defused what looked like a certain fight by pretending to be the girlfriend of a woman she had never met who was caught in a bad situation with unwanted attention from a man.  It worked, he waked off and there was no fight.  What a creative solution.

Heidi is also a candidate for Washoe County Sheriff next fall so follow her campaign.  Thank you Heidi for sharing your story and for being our colleague through Reno South Rotary.
Oktoberfest 2017 happens September 23rd
