Rotary Theme for November:
The Rotary Foundation

 eat speaker.
November 3 speaker:   Professor Ramin Motamed, an associate professor of geotechnical engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno.  Dr. Motamed works with the shake table at UNR (a prior vocational tour).

Prof. Motamed gave us the "nitty-gritty" on foundations, including the sinking apartment complex in San Francisco, the famous tower in Pisa and some local sites.  Earthquakes are the #1 major risk for the area as a whole, and it does appear the foundations are critical to dwelling safety.

Service Project for November

The Rotary Club of Reno South has regular meetings on the first and third Thursdays AT GREAT BASIN BREWERY (McCARRAN & VIRGINIA STREETS) @4:15p.m.  Gather at 4:00.

November 17:  Jeff Gabriel, District Governor 5109

District Governor Jeff  (Rotary Club of Bishop) is a very enjoyable and forward-thinking speaker, and does not fit any stereotype of a District Governor.  Among many other things, he is a graduate of Kansas State, with a B.S. is Wildlife Biology and Political Science and a Masters in Public Administration. Currently the Executive Officer of the Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association, Jeff is a master gardener and involved in numerous local organizations.
Jeff brings a fresh new look & attitude with Rotary.  Let's give him a great RSR welcome, and have good attendance.

December 1 - Mark Schauss - Russia and Ukraine

December 15 - Ashley Taylor, RMA, Care Management for an aging Population (that's all of us, actually)

How should Rotary Club of Reno South celebrate the holidays together?  It has been suggested that we emulate the "Friendsgiving" model and meet with a pot luck and perhaps celebratory games.  Any thoughts out there?

Jan  5 - TBD

Jan 19 - Grant Denton, Karma Box Project

April - Bus Trip
