IMPORTANT DATES AND OPPORTUNITIES

September has traditionally been a busy month for our club--and in the "after times" this year is no exception.  Please support our club by signing up for one (or more!) of the following:

1.  Sept. 10, 2022, at Truckee Meadows Community College; registration begins at 8:30am.
Join other District Rotarians for a training event that is both fun and informative.  The
Vibrant Club Workshop - "Together Let’s Imagine Rotary" is open to every Rotarian--basically anyone who wants to help our club  grow and prosper.  There will even be time to learn from each other with a mix & mingle lunch of delicious pizza--and our club is paying for members to attend.    Detailed program was sent with the weekly reminder. Register now!

2. Sept 14-18 - Volunteer to assist Reno Midtown Rotary staffing the ice cream and beer booths at the Air Races--we will split tips and wages depending on participation--so it is a FUNdraiser for RSR.  Prez Tori sent a detailed email to all members about this event--so check it out.  Parking passes are included for volunteers.  Click on link below to sign up.

3.  Sept 24, 8:30-1:30 - (2-4-hour shifts) Lithium and rechargeable batteries and battery powered E-waste recycling - Auto Museum on Mill Street.  RSR is partnering with Downtown Rotary for a service project to provide a much-needed convenient way for residents to rid themselves of unwanted "E-Stuff" without polluting our land and water.  Contact Jonnie (775.240.3426 or jonnie.pullman@gmail.com) to sign up.  We need 4-5 volunteers to keep the shifts to fewer hours.

Other area events:

The Rotary Club of Reno's fundraiser is  to celebrate and support their Bicentennial Park project is on Tuesday,  September 13th from 5 - 7:30 pm. It's at the park, food trucks, raffle, tours of the garden: $85/person. For tickets and more info: https://renorotary.org/event/fall-festivslq/

______________
Program Sept 1
Vern Scarbrough
V.P. Reno Jazz Orchestra Board of Directors

In July 2022, the Reno Jazz Orchestra announced its merger with the Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra, adding programs for students and budding musicians.  Arts are increasingly important for economic development, and the RJO is an important component.  Their focus on our area youth also aligns with RSR's community interest.  CD's were made available for attendees at no charge!

September 7 - No regular meeting

September 15 - Steve Schroeder will share the history and development of the Reno Public Market (formerly Shopper's Square).  This is an important development, and we hope it will be the location of our regular meetings beginning in October or November.  Let's have a good crowd to welcome Steve!

September 22 - No meeting

September 24 a.m. - Joint service project with Downtown Rotary - help recycle e-waste and lithium batteries - info to come

September 24-25 - The fabled RSR Wine Bus trip is postponed until Spring--we needed more to sign up to make it viable.  This will allow more lead time for planning.
September 29 - TBD
