Meet Patty Cafferata, local author and politician (she was the first woman in NV elected to a constitutional office in 1982) explore the topic "The Founding of Reno" with stories about our community's past.   

Patty has published five books on Nevada history, including The Goldfield Hotel: Gem of the Desert; Mapes Hotel: The History of Reno’s Landmark Hotel and Casino; and More than a Song and a Dance: The Heyday of Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City, Nevada, circa 1863 to 1897.

 

SERVICE OPPORTUNITY - April 17
 
Wednesday, April 17th at 6PM, Natchez Elementary School will hold a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) Night. ASHRAE Northern Nevada Chapter and RSR will partner to offer hands on science for Natchez Elementary School students. RSR volunteers are needed. If you'd like to help, contact Kate Nickolls at 650.279,6769 or kat.nick89519@gmail.com. 
 
Expect to also see robots in action from a partnership between Natchez and Robotics Education & Competition Foundation.

April 11 - Music Contest. Come hear the talented students from Galena High School as they compete in the annual RSR Music Contest.
 
April 18 - Noreen Leary will provide an update on the Veterans Guest House, which is supported by all Rotary clubs in Reno-Sparks Area 8.
 
April 25 - ABO Scholarship Luncheon. Students enrolled in  the Achievement Beyond Obstacles Scholarship Program will deliver their "talks".
