Thursty Thursday --a great time!

RSR Members met Thursday evening at Seven Troughs Distilling, 1155 Watson Way. Although very unprepossessing on the outside, there was an abundance of good cheer, information and great food on the inside. With a bonus--there was also a group of young engineers in attendance as well.

Tom Adams provided a historical tour of distilling in the US and Nevada, including challenges of naming and creating a brand (the original choice of Battle Born Distillery was already being used by a California company! 7 Troughs has historical significance to Nevada, though. Their recipes are all pre-prohibition, many back when the Democrats in Nevada were called the Silver Party.

7 Troughs produces and markets several types of spirits: gin, whiskey (FOI, bourbon doesn't have to be produced in Kentucky to be called bourbon--a common misconception), vodka, moonshine, and several products involving these spirits. These products are sold throughout Northern Nevada and in the Tahoe area.

7 Troughs will soon open a tasting room and small restaurant in the basement of the old Post Office on Virginia Street--another field trip may be in order soon...

Carolina BBQ Kitchen provided an excellent meal, and we also made a dent in the RSR wine reserves. Another Dave Behling production home run!

The Rodeo Fundraiser is also a FUN-raiser!!!!!

Really, working with fellow Rotarians, family and friends is a hoot! We have 6 nights and 1 day this year to staff the rodeo beer booth: - Monday June 8 - Saturday June 23. RSR is paid a nominal hourly rate per person and we KEEP ALL THE TIPS! (Notice this font is the color of money...)

Hours:

Monday Jun 18 thru Thursday - open at 4 p.m. and close at 11 p.m.

Saturday Jun 23 we open at 4 and close at midnight

There are 31 slots for us to fill - we would like to have your commitments no later than June 12 (Rotarians actually thinking ahead...)

Please look for sign-ups at the meetings AND on line. If you don't sign up...well, you can guess what will happen...who do you want to call you?
