Meeting July 20

Adam Larson is a Rotarian and an endurance sports enthusiast. These 2 passions have combined into a crazy idea: this October (on bike and foot) he will carry a ShelterBox from Pyramid Lake along the 114 mile Tahoe-Pyramid Trail to Lake Tahoe. The trail follows the entire length of the Truckee River as it makes its way from one beautiful lake to another.

ShelterBox is a 501c3 Rotary-affiliated organization that provides disaster relief all over the globe. Click on the "Donate" below to...pledge to his endeavor!

More About the Meeting

- Joel Muller paid $20 for being late to the meeting

- Bob Stewart - $60 for his 72nd birthday and for regaining a measure of health following his hospitalization in April/May.

Liz Heiman brought a guest--Laurajoy Benifield from Senegal, a participant in the Mandela Washington Project--who is in Reno for a few weeks.

Rotary Opportunities Locally and Abroad

Thursday, July 27 6-8:30 p.m.

The Rotary Club of Reno Sunrise is hosting a family-oriented evening fundraiser of miniature golf for fun, fellowship and fundraising: friendly competition, sandwiches and soft drinks, all included in the price of a ticket at Magic Carpet Golf on S. Virginia Street. All proceeds to the Rotary Club of Reno Sunrise Charitable Foundation and will go to the Desert Pigs. aa 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that removes illegally dumped trash from public lands. RSR will have at least one team at the event--form yours and have fun while doing good for Rotary.

Ticket prices are $35/adults, $25 for children age 10 and under

Join us at Swill for the meeting of this Rotary year on Thursday, June 15. The meeting will begin promptly at 4:00 pm. and adjourn at 5:30 p.m.

Annual Family Picnic at Burnt Cedar Beach - Incline Village, Lake Tahoe

Join us for one of Reno South Rotary's marquee events of the year!!

Kent Wood has reserved the "center" picnic area for us from 3-8 pm; however, the beach and pool facilities are available to our group all day. Costs for entry into the venue are $15 per adult and $5 for youth ages 6-17. Children under age 6 are admitted free.

Smoked BBQ ribs, shrimp kabobs, and grilled steaks will be served as the main entree along with side dishes provided by our members. Please plan to share your favorite "picnic" side dish as we gather together for a family-style dinner at approximately 5:30-6:00 pm. Also, plan to bring your own beverages, or beverages to share.

August Community Service Project

The RSR August Community service project will benefit Project 150 Reno. Project 150 Reno serves displaced, disadvantaged and homeless high school students in Northern Nevada.

High school is tough enough without having to worry about where your next meal is coming from or where you’re going to sleep at night. Project 150 provides basics needs – clothing, shoes, school supplies, food – to help keep these students in school.

They are requesting underwear, hygiene items and snacks. See the "Project150 Reno" wish list on Amazon for specifics. You can order through Amazon or purchase the same item elsewhere.

Kate will be at the August 17th meeting of Rotary Club of Reno South to accept donations or checks that will be delivered to Project 150 Reno in person. Project 150 accepts cash, credit card or PayPal donations at https://www.project150reno.org/donate/
