Program April 11:  Rotary Music Contest
 
 
Winner: Yo-Yo (editor did not hear the last name--apologies!)
 
Runner-u Jake Reynolds
 
Yo-Yo, who received $100 from RSR, will head to the Area Contest on May 8, the winner of which will compete for a $1,000 scholarship at the District conference the following week.  Jake received a $50 check for his participation.  Thank you to these students for their time, and the judges for their difficult decision!
 
If you aren't at our RSR meeting, you are missing out on fellowship, opportunity and information!!

Ken Petring, Prez-Elect of Reno Centennial Sunset, promoted his club's Polio Plus fundraiser: Polio Purple Pinkie Trail Run, a fun 5K walk/run & 10K run at Washoe County's Rancho San Rafael Park on Saturday, May 4th, 2019

Veterans' Guest House, which provides temporary housing to U.S. military veterans and their families when undergoing medical treatment in the Reno/Sparks area
 
April 25 - Achievement Beyond Obstacles (ABO) Scholarship Luncheon. Students enrolled in  the Achievement Beyond Obstacles Scholarship Program will deliver their speeches, which could qualify them for up to $3,500 in scholarships. We will also have at least one continuing student speak about their experiences with ABO and college.  This year,  in addition to our graduating seniors, 14 continuing ABO students have applied for scholarships --2 of them are entering grad school.  These are amazing achievements! 
 
April 27 - Rotarians at Work Day - be ready to roll up your sleeves at Robinhood Park.  Sustenance will be provided.  Bring the family--and rakes, etc.  More details later.

April 23, RSR's monthly Board meeting: 7:30 am at Mimim's on Kietzke.  All members are invited and welcome.
 
April 20 - Reno Central's Crab Feed Fundraiser.

There was lots of bell-ringing at this meeting:
- Press Clewe celebrated visiting his puppy training camp, attending the Mountain West BB Tournament and partying in Havasu, AZ
Matt Thornton expressed his relief at the ending of his 3-week training stint in Minneapolis
John Howe used his bell-ringing to celebrate the achievements of Achievement Beyond Obstacles
Reg Willison celebrated his improving back after surgery a few weeks ago
Kyle Whaley rang the bell in celebration of being alive
Dan Carne purchased a Inspiration Square  for Emily Cady, RSR's outbound Rotary Youth Exchange Student (RYE), who is headed to Sweden.
