Last week's Speaker - Feb 6:  
 
 Chris Askin - President & CEO of the Community Foundation of Western Nevada.
 
In addition to its core philanthropic work, the  Foundation focuses on community engagement by leading initiatives as a neutral convener, educating the community, and addressing persistent issues.  One of these is the housing project on Sage Street titled Village on Sage Street, where they have provided affordable housing for 220 community members. The Village on Sage Street aspires to bridge those with home insecurity to safe, secure housing on their way to permanent housing.
 
The Community Foundation of Western Nevada was founded in 1998 as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization and currently administers 260 charitable funds on behalf of donors, totaling $128 million in assets. It has distributed over 9,500 grants and scholarships totaling over $132 million.

Adrienne Tholme rang the BIG BELL in recognition of being elected to the Board of Directors of ASHRAE (the global society committed to humanity by advancing the arts and sciences of HVAC, refrigeration and their allied fields) at their Annual Conference in Orlando, FL.
Dan Carne, a native of Kansas City paid a $50 fine to acknowledge the newest Super Bowl Champions. GO CHIEFS!!!
Jason Morris donated $50 to the club for 4 UNR men's basketball tickets to an upcoming game which were generously donated by Denny Williams.
 
Annual Foundation Dinner
Friday, January 31
 
10 club members were on hand to help celebrate the Rotary Foundation and see President Kyle receive 2 awards on behalf of Reno South at the dinner held on Friday, January 31: a Certificate of Support for Rotary international's End Polio Now campaign, AND a 100% Foundation Giving Club Award for 100% club participation in Foundation giving and a per capita contribution of $100 or more. 
 
This is a prestigious club award!

March 18 (Wednesday).  Rotary Means Business convenes at High Sierra Industries, with special activities and refreshments.  Please plan to attend this evening event and support Rotary and our 3 Rotarians who are a part of HSI.
