Prez Adrienne Reviewed the State of Our Club this Year - AWESOME!
 
When our speaker cancelled at the last minute, Prez Adrienne rose to the occasion, creating a program to review what we've done so far this year.

Merve Hickok
Occupation: Business Processing at High Sierra Industries, and owns/operates her consulting business coaching those changing professions, (and more, including Dir. of Sales Management for Marriott in Turkey)
Family:  Husband Michael and 20 year old son
Why Rotary?: To serve the community and make connections
Fun Fact:  Which to choose?  She almost fell into Mt. Vesuvius...

 Service Opportunities
 
Matt Buehler is collecting funds for family style meals for our Coast Guard service members posted at Tahoe City.  They are not being paid during the shutdown, and are on post away from their families 3 days at a time.  So far we've collected $250.  Contact Matt directly:  702.743.4735 (text/phone) or mattsuebuehler@hotmail.com
 
District 5190 is now recruiting counselors for our summer 2019 camp Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA).
Contact Jonnie Pullman if you are interested in learning more - it's a blast and transformative for Rotarians as well as students.
 
Kate Nickolls requested volunteers for STEM days (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)at a Reno middle school and Natchez Elementary.  You don't need to be a teacher or scientist to help run the activities!  Details to follow, but you can contact Kate at kat.nick89519@gmail.com.

RSR now has a 501c3 Community Fund.  It will need 2 non-RSR Board club members to serve on its separate Board.  Please let Prez. Adrienne know if you are interested.

Jan 22:  RSR Board Meeting at Mimi's Cafe on Kietzke, 7:30 am All are invited.
 
Jan 24Speaker Masih Madani about the a project to convert shipping containers to housing for the homeless.  Shipping containers are also used for high-end housing in many areas--so come hear about this fascinating subject.
 
Jan 31DARK FOR THURSTY THURSDAY.
Time:  5:30-8:30 at The Renaissance Hotel Bocce Ball Courts 
Cost:  $10 each (on the honor system)
Come hungry--there will be lots of food
 
Mar 7:  Student Speech Contest
