What Happened?
Achievement Beyond Obstacles July  16

 What an inspirational program!

Four of our ABO scholarship winners shared their plans, experiences this Covid year, and how ABO helped them.  The common theme:  other people and networks they were able to form.  It is a Rotary theme, isn't it?  Helping others and a network of friends?  Thank you to:

Destiny Zepeda, Hug High graduate in 2020, currently attending summer school at UNR.  Destiny also participated in REGL.

Iris Mangosing-Kilic, TMCC graduate in 2020, also an AA degree from TMCC in 2020.  Enrolled at and soon traveling to St. Louis University.

Omar Carillo, Sparks High graduate in 2019, currently attending UNR as an Engineering major, and also a simultaneous business degree

Tatiana Ramirez, Sparks High graduate in 2017, who will graduate this summer with a degree in journalism, currently living in Colorado.  She was able to graduate in 3 years--while getting married and having a baby!

Tatiana will edit the video of each student and these will be posted on the ABO web site.

More about the meeting:

Jonnie Pullman paid $25 to help celebrate her RYE student's (Jasmin, from Austria) purchase of an apartment in Vienna (they don't call them condos there...).  Jonnie also provided information about RYE and its positive impact.

We have 2 Know Your Rotarian stories to share (Kent Wood and Bob Stewart).  They will be included in our communications very soon.  Be prepared!
____________

Dues are due!  You will receive an invoice. $150 or $75 now and $75 in January.

Rotary International News

Rotary International added a 7th Area of Focus. In addition to Peace and Conflict Resolution, Maternal and Child Health, Literacy, Economic Development, Clean Water and Sanitation, Disease Prevention, the seventh area of focus is THE ENVIRONMENT.   Areas of Focus are where Rotary recommends we look for impactful and sustainable projects to work on, whether in our local communities or around the world.
