February Service Project

RSR Members will tour the AAVD (Adopt A Vet Dental) Clinic on Feb 22 from 10-10:45 a.m.  The invitation and directions are coming soon - AAVD's director requested we come at this time to see the clinic in action and hopefully meet some veterans.

AAVD was founded to provide free critical and life-saving dental care to impoverished and low-income Veterans in Nevada who cannot afford to see a dentist. Only 5-10% of veterans qualify for paid dental care under the restrictive VA program.

A generous RSR member is matching donations so that our club can present the Clinic with a check to fund a full day's program - $1,250.  Please let Heidi (775.813.6409) or Bob (401)529.7324) know the amount of your  pledge, however small.  Payment made to Reno south Rotary Community Fund.  Donations are tax deductible.
Members are encouraged, not required, to contribute to this Community Project.

 February 1 Recap

Bryan McCardle
Revitalization Manager, City of Reno

Everyone at the meeting agreed that we are very fortunate to have Bryan leading the Reno Redevelopment Agency as the City's Revitalization Manager.  It was a lively meeting of members and friends.  Way too much information to share any data, other than:
  • We want/need a person-friendly downtown
  • Downtown is much more than the Casino capture area
  • This is a long-term project, but we are making significant progress (details at the meeting)
