Program January 7

Co-Prez Bob reviewed and we celebrated the things we have accomplished since the beginning of Covid and our virtual meetings--and there was a lot! Among our accomplishments:

April 9 – December 10, 2020: 26 Zoom meetings, plus 4 in-person events
Including Demotion Party, Annual Family Picnic, Thirsty Thursday, and a Community Service Project
30 events, 360 total attendance = 12 average attendance weekly - we can do better!
Programs included
- ABO 1st year & Continuing Students
- Diaz Dixon, Eddy House
- David Gamble - "Growing Up Black in Reno"
- India Polio Immunization Day
- Washoe County Registrar of Voters
- Astrophotography
- Small Business Development Center
- Washoe County Sheriff
Transplanted 100 trees to be ready for permanent homes in the fall 2021
50 whiteboards and erasers donated by members, books and more whiteboards added with club $$
Grant to donate computers for students in distance learning
Eddy House Sock Drive more than 325 pairs of socks and $14,35 in donated $$ for gift cards for meals
3 District Awards under Prez Kyle's leadership

Diaz Dixon spoke about the incredible progress made at Eddy House since his presentation in August, including build out of computer room, media room, classroom, dorm room, accommodations for night shift workers (most residents are employed & saving for permanent housing) and more. When restrictions ease, Diaz will let us know about volunteer opportunities.

There was also a discussion about where RSR goes in the future - more on that later...

- Bob Stewart paid $50 to reach the bell in honor of purchasing a new, loaded Subaru

- Jonnie Pullman contributed $25 in honor of her rescue dog, Tucson

January 14: Geoff Cochran, Rotary Foundation Annual Giving Officer for Zones 26 & 27

Geoff Cochran is an Annual Giving Officer with The Rotary Foundation, with a special focus on Zones 26 and 27. He is a part of a team within The Foundation’s staff who apply giving trends, data analysis and connections to empower Rotary leaders to acquire, retain and upgrade donors, fund more grants, and create a strong pipeline of philanthropic support for The Rotary Foundation.

Jeff will talk about why we have a Foundation, how it works, and answer any questions we may have. He is an interesting speaker--join us...
