RSR Goes Geothermal!

When no one else shows up (at 1:30, you get a private tour!!

RSR members and guest were provided a tour of the Ormat Technologies, Inc. Steamboat Geothermal Facility, located across the Mt. Rose Highway from the Summit Sierra Mall. (Thank you, Dave Behling!)

Ormat was founded in 1965 as a company with proprietary turbine engine designs, but now provides remote power units (i.e. to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline), and builds, acquires and operates geothermal facilities world-wide. Their IPO was successful in 2004.

Ormat operates 7 geothermal plants in Nevada that provide 273 megawatts of electricity. They also have numerous facilities in numerous locations in the US, as wellas in Indonesia, Turkey, New Zealand, Iceland, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Chile, Canada - and more.

Thursty Thursday for RSR

Thirsty Thursday this coming Thursday (Club Dark). Time to mingle and get to know your fellow Members and they domestic companions.

The fun will take place at Seven Troughs Distilling, 1155 Watson Way #5, Sparks beginning at 5:30.

Carolina BBQ Kitchen will provide the catering. RSR will also provide some beer and wine. (And water...) Expect an educational talk, and taste, about the distilling methods for each liquor. Most recipes are original Nevada when the Democratic Party was the Silver Party!!
