What Happened?
July 23
Attendees participated in a Town Hall meeting about what we would like to have for programs at our lunch gatherings.  Suggestions included: local newsworthy items (Reno Council, EDAWN) or people and businesses we read about (Superintendent of Schools, developers.

Bob Stewart celebrated his 69th birthday and mourned not visiting St. Andrews on it's 150th birthday

Denny Williams announced his retirement next June 21 (!) and his 76th birthday!  We want to be invited to the party

(It is possible the editor misremembered on the meeting dates when fines were paid...)

We also memorialized and shared memories of Past President Chuck Malley - our "ever-strident Rotarian".  Chuck exemplified Rotary with his generosity, hard work and unique sense of humor.  Sharing one last time...
OLD' IS WHEN...
  • Getting lucky' means you find your car in the parking lot.
  • An 'all-nighter' means not getting up to use the bathroom.
  • Your sweetie says: Let's go upstairs and make love. And you answer: 'Pick one, I can't do both!
Chuck will be missed and the world seems smaller.

July 28 - RSR Board Meeting
  • The Board requested fundraising ideas, since Oktoberfest has been postponed until 2021
  • RSR Community Fund Board for 20-21 was announced: Jonnie Pullman, Bob Stewart, Matt Thornton, Kyle Whaley, Alex Davis, Alex Lepe, Tori DellaRocca
August 1 - Tree planting

August 6 - Diaz Dixon, CEO, Eddy House

Diaz provided an update on the Eddy House, whose mission is to End Youth Homelessness in Northern Nevada.

Eddy House is now administering Casa De Vida and readying "upscale dorms" for underhoused college students (such as those living in their cars) on Galleti Way, in addition to operating a drop-in and short term housing shelter and a transitional house with 6 beds.  Rent is charged when possible--many of their clients have some kind of job but cannot afford housing.

Diaz will keep us informed as Eddy House returns to normal capacity during the Covid era.  When asked about how RSR Rotarians can help, he suggested giving time--these young adults are most impacted when they learn that people they don't know care about them and are willing to share their knowledge.

Denny Williams celebrated his anniversary...

Bob Hardenbrook celebrated his 82nd birthday!! and camping for his anniversary.
