Speaker: Heather Keenan

Topic: Yoga for Trauma Victims

Heather defines Trauma as "an emotional response to an event that has subjectively presented a physical or emotional threat". It may have been a direct assault as in child abuse or exposure such as witnessing a single event or enduring multiple incidents. Even after the trauma has subsided, the body's memory holds on causing a PTSD-like response.

The three parts of Yoga: physical poses and movement; breath control; and meditation/mindfulness techniques all facilitate awareness and the way to consciously change the automatic responses that were programmed in the body, therefore allowing a person to feel and deal with their emotions.

Feb 28 - Carol Klove, Learn about the Tournament of Roses Parade (with pictures!) from a person who has worked with the organization for 30 years!

March 1 - Tahoe City Rotary's 43rd Annual Ski Challenge - Northstar at Tahoe

March 7 - RSR Student Speech Contest. The winner moves on to compete for a scholarship!

March 14 Vocational Tour of the Harrah Military Museum - the largest collection of military Jeeps. More details later.

April 6 - Club Leadership Assembly will be held 4/6 at The Nugget, in Sparks, NV. Every club’s leadership team plus new members and all other interested club members should sign up to see next year’s vision and to start building the plan for your club’s 2019- 20 year. April 27 - Rotarians at Work Day - be ready to roll up your sleeves at Robinhood Park.

We need someone to take notes at the next meeting (Feb 28) for Bob Stewart, who will produce the bulletin while the editor is taking a long trip...and someone to take pictures. Please contact Bob or Prez Adrienne.

It is tax season. Megan is extremely busy at this time of year and isn't able to be at all of the meetings. We really need people to step up and volunteer to staff the Welcome Table.
