Meeting June 3

Lauren Mazurowski, ABO Continuing Student and Ph.D. Candidate (Yale) spoke about Viruses in the Wastewater & What it Means to YOU. She is also a Midtown Rotarian.

Lauren shared her Master's of Science degree research with us. Of course, she prepared us for the information by providing graphics and explanations of viruses and how they work, and encouraged us to visit the sewer plant -- it's fascinating.

Basically her research, (with her team and professor) demonstrated the way to use the data from collected viral samples in the wastewater to predict/verify Covid infections. This methodology should be able to be refined, and hopefully utilized for other diseases as well.

Sharon Honig Bear, Food Writer, Historian, Volunteer Extraordinaire

Sharon is Board Member and Past President of Historic Reno Preservation, and a Food Writer for Edible RenoTahoe. She is a frequent visitor to Reno South meetings and events and has presented programs to us (and others, of course) with rave reviews.

Sharon will provide information and visuals of Reno's historic Food Kitchens (read restaurant) in Reno. We always enjoy her visits--come enjoy this one!
