January Jan 18 - Karol Hines shared information about the Truckee Tahoe Soaring Association (TTSA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit.   TTSA is a world-renowned gliderport at the Truckee Tahoe Airport in Truckee California. Their STEM program for students helps the student in math and science and prepares them to earn their pilot's license.

After showing us what all is involved in the STEM program (it also prepares students for obtaining a pilot's license), Karol also talked about her experiences as a glider pilot (19,000 feet and oxygen, anyone?)

 February Service Project

RSR Members will tour of the AAVD (Adopt A Vet Dental) Clinic on Feb 22 from 10-10:45 a.m.  The invitation and directions are coming soon - the director requested we come at this time to see the clinic in action and hopefullky meet some veterans.
AAVD was founded to provide free critical and life-saving dental care to impoverished and low-income Veterans in Nevada who cannot afford to see a dentist. Only 5-10% of veterans qualify for dental care under the restrictive VA program.

A generous RSR member is matching any donations so that our club can present the Clinic with a check to fund a full day's program - $1,250.  Details will be provided soon.

The Rotary Club of Reno South has regular meetings on the first and third Thursdays of each month @ 4:00 p.m. at Swill Coffee and Wine.
