Meeting October 1
Rodney Jorgensen
Small Business Development Center
Rod, as he prefers to be called, has worked at the SBDC for 30 years, and still loves his job.  All states have have a SBDC, and Nevada's organization has 11 sites.  In northern Nevada, the SBDC works closely (cooperation, not competition) with the Economic Development Association of Western Nevada (EDAWN), other organizations at UNR and  NCET (you learned about it on September 3) to counsel small business owners, put owners in touch with various financing sources, host business training events, search trademark and patents, and help business owners transition out.
The Covid relief CARES ACT put a strain on the organization, but they are still ready and responding.
More about the meeting:
Kate Nickolls rang the bell in celebration of selling her son's condo in Bethesda, Maryland.  One less real estate headache...
Kent Wood promised us pictures for the next meeting when he paid $50 or fishing with his grandson on the Truckee River.
Tori DellaRocca rang the bell after returning from a 3-generational (plus 1 boyfriend), 10 day (?) cross country marathon to Yellowstone National Park.  Daughter Dylan now wants to be a forest ranger...(pictures of the grizzlie on order...)
Rotary International is running a "Paul Harris special"
Sign up for Rotary Direct (via the My Rotary web site) … or … Increase your Rotary Direct Giving and receive 250 points (that's 25% towards a Paul Harris Award). Rotary Direct is the easiest way to give! Use your credit card or bank account and Rotary Direct will automatically record your giving amount to The Rotary Foundation Funds (Annual Fund SHARE, PolioPlus, Designated Area of Focus), of your choice and with your desired frequency. As little as $10 per month to as much as you want to give. $85 per month will achieve Paul Harris Society commitment (check the box on the form to join PHS). You can also contribute quarterly or annually.
Please e-mail Wyn Spiller (wyn.spiller@gmail.com) or Matt Cruse (ar15pres@yahoo.com) if you have signed up or increased your current giving so your 250 points can be credited to you. https://my.rotary.org/en/donate
