Our guest speaker next Tuesday will be Alex Stettinski, Executive Director of Downtown Reno Partnership. Alex will be telling us about the successes of the Ambassador program along with the other new developments taking shape in downtown Reno.

Vocational Tour of UNR's Shake Tables

On Tuesday, March 29 we will be dark at noon to allow us to take a Vocational Tour of the Shake Tables located in the Earthquake Engineering Laboratory on the UNR campus. Park on the 5th Level of the Brian J. Whalen Parking Complex on South Virginia Street just south of 15th Street (Lawlor Events Center and the E.I. Wiegand Fitness Center) and proceed on foot south & east to the Earthquake Engineering Laboratory (see attached map of the UNR campus). Our tour is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm.

Please RSVP to this invitation no later than noon this Friday, March 25th as we are inviting the members of the Rotary Club of Reno Central to join us and space is limited.

Social meeting after the Vocational Tour on Tuesday, March 29th at Little Waldorf @ 5:00 pm. ALL MEMBERS are invited to attend a gathering to have a conversation about the direction of Reno South Rotary after June 30 with the beginning of a new Rotary year. Even if you do not attend the Vocational Tour you are highly encouraged to join the gathering and the conversation on the future of our Rotary club after the current Rotary year. We have reserved the back bar room for this no-host gathering. Let your voice be heard!

You are invited to a very special weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Reno South on Tuesday, April 5 at Atlantis at noon.

ABO Club Luncheon at noon on Tuesday, April 5 at Atlantis. You won't want to miss this meeting as we celebrate the successes of a group of ABO students who will "tell their stories" at our weekly meeting. This event is always a highlight of the Rotary year, and this year will prove no different. The Achievement Beyond Obstacles scholarship program was founded in 1996 by Reno South Rotary as the Most Improved Student program and to date has awarded over $250,000 in scholarship funds to deserving students who have overcome major obstacles in their lives, and who are continuing their education at either a community college, university or trade school.

Our guest speaker will be Brierley McCubbins, Animal Keeper, Education and Public Outreach Manager of the Animal Ark Wildlife Sanctuary in Reno. Brierley will tell us about many new developments at this very unique attraction in our city.

Next week's speaker will be Reno's own Owen Gray who was just the 10th American to ever complete the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge, solo. The 56-year old rowed 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, arriving into English Harbour in Antigua on February 21st after 70 days 19 hours and 29 minutes at sea. Owen will share his experiences while participating in this unique challenge. You won't want to miss next week's program and guest speaker!

Our guest speakers will be Anne Schiller, Executive Director, and Jacob Johnson, Development and Marketing Coordinator, of Care Chest of Sierra Nevada. In addition to hearing about the variety of services which Care Chest of Sierra Nevada provides to their clients and community, we will be presenting a $1,000 donation to the Care Chest organization in honor and memory of our very own Denny Granata.

Communities in Schools of Western Nevada is a recent awardee of a $1,000,000+ grant from McKenzie (Bezos) Scott.
