Galena Speech Tournament Judging
Oct. 16, 2026 - Oct. 17, 2026
Hello All,

Galena High School will be holding a speech competition for local high schools and needs our help. Lindsey (the contact at Galena HS) needs judges. Individual events are on October 16th and Debate is on October 17th. Please consider doing a shift to help the Galena Speech Team.

Look closely in the email below for the sign up link (it's a little hard to see). If you have any specific questions, feel free to call David Zybert (number listed below).

Thanks,
Heidi

From Lindsey:

This will be our first Speech and Debate tournament that we have hosted in many years. The tournament runs over the course of two days:
  • October 16 speech events on Friday - approximately 3pm to 10pm
  • October 17 Debate events on Saturday - approximately 7:30am to 9pm
We are weakest in judging numbers for later rounds on Friday and Saturday, but need judges across all times. You can sign up for judging at this link, and you can indicate multiple time slots throughout the times above.

You do not need to have experience to judge speech and debate tournaments. We will provide training onsite before rounds, and I'll be available to talk you through any questions or concerns you might have. These rounds comprise of theatrical speech events, partner team events for debate and speech, current events emphasis, and more.

Because this is our first tournament, I am hoping to gather a large quantity of judges to make sure the tournament runs smoothly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are unavailable to judge, or want to help in other ways too, we will be looking for food donations for our snack bar.
